Trevor believes that cartoon imagery and animation reveal a great deal about people and what their world view is, from the darker animation of "Heavy Metal" to the brightly colored "Smurfs." Though animation may not be ranked among the highest of arts, most animation and cartoons could well stand up to closer examination. Consider that thousands of trained craftspeople, artists, musicians and producers, definitely of an "adult" age, bring these images to fruition.
Trevor's main motivation for painting these pieces is to evoke a sense of laughter, joy, and surprise - these images are fun for him. He recalls the bygone days when Saturday morning was the best time of the week, and hopes that his work and brings a smile to the viewer as well. Long live Scooby Doo!
In his quest to capture the essence of the toons, Trevor works in a process method, using layer upon layer of several different media, including glazing with clear acrylics. Impressionism, Expressionism, Pop Art, traditional portraiture and animation cel art are recognizable influences on his unique style.
